About this blog

The Path to Kemet

This blog is my brainchild. I decided to create it for several reasons. One, so I could document my spiritual journey. This isn't the first time I've done something like this. I have hand-written journals covering the span of the past 11 years for a number of subjects. But, Kemetics is something different. It requires a lot of research and honestly, I didn't want to hand write all that. So I thought why not make a blog, and maybe someone will read it and find it useful. Feeding two birds with one piece of bread, you see (I don't kill birds, not even figuratively).

As much as I love (and prefer) the written word more than the typed one, typing is easier to organize than handwriting. It's also more secure as I can make a back up copy, several back up copies if I want. Even if this wasn't on the internet and it was in a handwritten notebook I would still want the option to be able to look back on it ten years from now and see where I was and where I went. With all the information we have at our fingertips today, it's hard to remember certain things, even things that were once important.

This is in no way intended to contain literary masterpieces, mind-blowing discoveries, or thoughts worth receiving a Nobel Prize. I'm not a professional and I'm not doing this for fame, money, burritos, or anything else that can be gained through the writing of a blog. We already covered some of the important reasons why I'm doing this, but there's still one more that's even more important that the other two.

I think it's incredibly important for a person to document their experiences. Just because you aren't famous or good at writing doesn't mean you don't deserve to record your story. Even the excuse that you don't have a story isn't valid. The great thing about the internet is that it allows normal people like myself to have a voice when they normally wouldn't. Even if I don't think what I do or write about is interesting, someone else might. Public blogging allows us to connect to anyone else in this world that wants to share their story. It allows us to see to experience life in someone else's shoes. That's an amazingly beautiful thing.

So even if what I write isn't interesting to one person, it might be to another. And if there's a chance that I can help out just one person through what I do... well I guess I'd say it's worth it.

What you can expect

So enough of the boring stuff. What exactly do I intend to put in this blog?

Well... lots of things! Of course I'll be documenting what I learn and experience in Kemetics. Like I said, this isn't going to be anything amazing, it's going to be about me. Since I'm also a practicing Wiccan, I'll probably do a few entries about that. I'm going to try and keep my personal life out of this as much as possible, but since my spiritual and day-to-day life are so closely entwined I'm not going to guarantee anything.

What you can expect from this blog: pictures, excerpts from certain texts and other information sources, poetry, ritual outlines, chants, meditations, things other people have told me, links to other places with good information, etc... Basically, you get to learn what I learn. I know history can be boring at times, so I'll try to keep it as interesting as possible, but I"m not making any promises.

What you're not going to find: bashing of other religions or cultures. Hmm. That's pretty much all I can think of right now. I'm a pretty forward person so I doubt there's anything I wouldn't write about. However, bashing other religions, cultures, etc., is a big no-no with me. So if you like respecting people and things, then I think you'll like it here.

That's basically it for the introduction. You'll have to read the blog if you want to know more.
